EPIRBs

An EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon) is an essential piece of marine kit that is registered to your vessel and connects to search and rescue services in the event of an emergency. When activated, the EPIRB will transmit its location via 406MHZ and, if it has GPS capability, it will broadcast an accurate position of the vessel.

The popular Ocean Signal EPIRB1 combines EPIRB with GPS-capability, while the latest McMurdo Smartfind G8 combines an EPIRB with AIS to reduce rescue times.
