Ensure your dinghy or small boat stays afloat and upright in all conditions with Holt’s range of buoyancy bags.
Made from 210D Nylon with TPU coating, each bag offers long-lasting puncture-resistant performance, easy inflation and reinforced positioning loops for secure strapping (not load bearing). They are waterproof and also resistant to dirt and any abrasion.

For most dinghies:
-
Combine 1 x Bow Bag, 1 x Stern Bag, and 2- 4 Pillow Bags for optimal distributed buoyancy.
-
For Optimist: 2–3 Optimist Bags
-
Add a Mast Float if preventing inversion is important for you or junior sailors.
Pillow Bag
Extremely versatile & widely used, Holt’s pillow bags are ideal for fitting along the hull sides or in unused compartments. Their soft, cylinder or rectangle shape allows easy placement across many boat types.
Use: Perfect for general buoyancy in most small dinghies and club racers. Use multiple bags to distribute buoyancy evenly.
Bow Bag
Shaped specifically to fit the forward section of a dinghy, this three-dimensional wedge-style bag maximises buoyancy in the bow without distorting hull form. Built to fill the narrow forward compartment where standard pillow bags won’t fit.
Use: Ideal for single- or double-handed dinghies with dedicated bow compartments. Prevents bow submersion during heavy conditions or when sailing downwind.
Stern Bag
Designed for the stern, this larger, shaped buoyancy bag ensures your dinghy maintains trim when swamped or loaded stern-heavy.
Optimist Bag
Made specifically to fit the narrow hull compartments of the Optimist class dinghy. Compact and precisely shaped to avoid interference with the mast step or daggerboard.
Mast Float Bag
An essential capsize recovery aid, Holt’s mast float bags prevent your dinghy from turning fully turtle (inverted mast-down) by keeping the masthead buoyant during a capsize
Crucial for beginners, instructors, and offshore dinghy sailors. Compatible with many mast profiles – strap or lash near the masthead. The 9 L float suits smaller boats or lighter rigs; the 40 L is for extra safety.
